This amazing carving was done by Stuart Quandelacy and is made of three separate shells. Four corn maidens are carved into the shell and are decorated with turquoise, lapis and coral. 

The Corn Maiden is an important character in Zuni lore. She is representative of the maidens that saved the Zuni people from starvation by bringing back the corn crop. She also honors Mother Earth and her continuing ability to feed her children. Placing this fetish carving in your home shows respect for the many gifts that we receive each day from Mother Earth.
